Boy, do I love books!! This topic of the week is right up my alley! I love books so much that I could scream it from a mountaintop!

Ok, well enough of that…
The question was “Would you rather read the book or the movie first? Or watch the movie at all.”
I am a big book fan (as you all know) so I would much rather read a book before I watch the movie. Unfortunately, if a movie does look really good, I’m not going to enjoy a book as much because I’m going to want to speed through it so that I can watch the movie and compare it to the book.
But with books that I have read (such as The Shining) I enjoy it when I find out that there is a movie or that there’s a movie coming out. But I’ve been telling myself that I will read The Help and then I’ll watch the movie, but I just don’t feel up to it.
But I would much rather have my face buried in a book than to watch a movie. But when I find out that there is going to be a movie based on a book that I have read, I always get so excited because I know that I am going to have some reservations about watching the movie. I have a particular way that I imagined this book but I know that the director is not going to have the same vision as me. So I’m also excited.
Books are very personal. There is a personal and emotional connection between a writer and a reader. The writer has put all he has into his book. A reader can learn about a writer just by reading books by him. It’s a wonderful experience that you really can’t get anywhere else but in a book.
I thank God every day that Homer decided to write the first book. It was a cornerstone in human history and I think people will be writing books until the end of time!

I love books too!!!!!!!!!!!! I actually really love to bury my face in a book before bed, rainy days, under a tree and at a coffeeshop. I know you don’t feel up to reading “The Help”, but you should! It is one of the best books I have ever read. It gives you a history lesson with a mix of drama and humor. I feel like I get more emotional with books than movies. I always find myself crying at the same part in a book when I have read it more than 5 times. Movies lose their emotional effect over time.

I’m guilty of one point you made. When a movie comes out and it looks really interesting I always want to watch it first. I tell myself I’ll go back and read the book after I watch the movie, but that rarely ever happens. I think it is best to read the book first if I want to watch the movie.
